Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors).
October 5th, late afternoon. We had arrived at our destination on the coast of the Camargue. The tent was up, the sky clear and blue, the shadows lengthening and the breeze quickening but warm. We’d escaped the swampy areas with their mosquitoes and alien roadkill, and we’d even managed to purchase civilization in the form of luxurious food and drink. Ozone, salt, the faint scent of horses in the air, the sound of the waves and the gentle whipping sound of the guyropes in the sea breeze. Not much in the way of voices – we didn’t need to talk much at that moment and were tired and incredibly relaxed – but we savoured every nuance of the taste of our pastis our of out enamel camping mugs…
